Subcontracting to Shewálh
Works for Your Bottom Line

Many GCs and project owners have Indigenous procurement reporting obligations — whether for provincial contracts, federal projects, or corporate supplier diversity commitments. Subcontracting to Shewálh doesn't just get you a reliable, certified crew. It counts toward your Indigenous spend targets.

Federal Procurement Targets

The federal government requires departments to direct a minimum of 5% of contract value to Indigenous businesses. Subcontractors like Shewálh count toward this target — we're registered on the Indigenous Business Directory (IBD).

BC Government Projects

The Province of BC actively co-develops Indigenous supply arrangements. Shewálh is listed on BC Bid as an Indigenous supplier — making us a qualifying subcontractor for provincial infrastructure and road contracts.

Corporate Supplier Diversity

Many major GCs and developers track Indigenous supplier spend as part of ESG and procurement commitments. Our CCIB certification (Canadian Council for Indigenous Business) provides verifiable Indigenous business status for your supplier diversity reporting.

Nation Territory Projects

For infrastructure work on or near First Nations territories, Shewálh brings cultural competency and established community relationships that non-Indigenous firms cannot offer — reducing risk, building trust, and smoothing project delivery.

Your Indigenous procurement partner — on the ground.

We're not a checkbox. We're a fully certified, field-ready team that helps your project hit Indigenous spend targets while keeping your schedule and safety record intact. One call covers compliance, crew, and documentation.

Shewálh — The Mark of Our People

The Meaning Behind the Crest

Our emblem is not decoration — it is identity. Every element speaks to who we are, where we come from, and what we stand for in every project we take on.

The Mountains & Trees

British Columbia's land — the territory we operate on, protect, and are accountable to with every deployment.

The Rising Sun

New opportunity, economic sovereignty, and the dawn of Indigenous-led industry in construction and infrastructure.

The Arrows

Direction, purpose, and forward movement. We know where we're going — and we bring our communities with us.

Red, White & Black

Sacred colours across many Nations — power, truth, and the strength of our people woven into every crew we field.

Grounded in Culture.
Built for Business.

Shewálh was founded on a simple belief: Indigenous peoples deserve a seat at the table in construction and infrastructure — not as subcontractors, but as owners, operators, and leaders.

We are a British Columbia-based, Indigenous-owned company delivering professional traffic control, civil works, development, and consulting services. We believe that economic development and community well-being are inseparable — and we build that belief into every project we take on.

Safety First, Always

Zero-incident operations. Our crews are trained, equipped, and accountable.

Indigenous Employment

We actively hire from Indigenous communities and create pathways to meaningful, long-term employment.

Long-Term Partnerships

We don't chase one-time contracts — we build relationships with clients and communities that last years.

Excellence in Execution

Professional. Punctual. Prepared. Every deployment reflects our commitment to quality and reliability.

British Columbia mountain landscape — the ancestral territories Shewálh serves

"We are serious about safety, execution, economic development, and long-term community impact."

— Shewálh Mission Statement

Community at the Core

Shewálh exists because we believe that infrastructure work should lift the communities it passes through — not just move traffic around them. Our impact is measured beyond projects completed.

Indigenous Employment

We prioritize hiring from local Indigenous communities, creating real employment opportunities with fair wages, training support, and paths to advancement.

Training & Mentorship

We support crew members through TCP certification and skills development — building careers, not just jobs. Senior team members actively mentor new hires.

Youth Initiatives

We believe in starting early. Shewálh supports programs that connect Indigenous youth to trades, construction pathways, and professional development.

Charitable Giving

A portion of our earnings goes back into the community — supporting children's hospitals, Indigenous cultural organizations, and youth programs across BC.

Cultural Respect

We conduct our work with deep respect for the lands we operate on and the communities whose territories we move through. Consultation, not assumption.

Economic Sovereignty

Every dollar earned by Shewálh stays in Indigenous hands, building generational wealth and long-term economic sovereignty for our communities.

Building a Better Future — Together

Our community impact isn't a checkbox or a footnote. It's the reason we started. Every crew deployed, every young person trained, every job filled is a step toward a stronger, more self-sufficient community.

What Clients Ask Before They Call

Everything a GC, developer, or municipality typically wants to know before bringing us on.

What certifications do your TCPs hold?
All Shewálh Traffic Control Persons hold current BCCSA TCP certification, the BC standard for all road and construction site traffic control. Our Lane Closure Technicians (LCTs) are certified for highway and multi-lane road closures. Certifications are current and on file.
Are you WorkSafeBC compliant?
Yes. Shewálh operates in full compliance with the WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation, including Section 18 requirements for traffic control. We maintain WCB good standing, and our safety management practices exceed minimum compliance requirements. Documentation available on request.
Can you prepare a Traffic Control Plan (TCP)?
Yes. We can prepare Category 1 Traffic Control Plans in-house — reducing your administrative burden and keeping the plan aligned with your actual site conditions. For Category 3 engineered plans, we coordinate with qualified engineers. Contact us to discuss your specific plan requirements.
How quickly can you mobilize?
For planned projects, we typically mobilize within 24–48 hours of contract confirmation. For emergency and short-notice deployments, our 24/7 dispatch can coordinate same-day crew placement depending on availability and project location within our primary service areas.
Does subcontracting to Shewálh count toward Indigenous procurement targets?
Yes. Shewálh is a CCIB-certified Indigenous business and is registered on the Federal Indigenous Business Directory (IBD) and BC Bid as an Indigenous supplier. Subcontracting to us counts toward federal 5% Indigenous spend targets, provincial Indigenous procurement commitments, and corporate supplier diversity reporting requirements.
What insurance coverage do you carry?
Shewálh carries comprehensive general liability coverage appropriate to construction and traffic control operations. Certificate of Insurance is available upon request and can be provided naming your company as an additional insured on a project basis.
Do you work evenings, weekends, and holidays?
Yes. Our dispatch operates 24/7 and we regularly staff evening, overnight, weekend, and statutory holiday shifts. Many municipal and utility projects specifically require off-peak hours, and we're built to handle exactly that.
What is your service area?
Our primary operating area is the Lower Mainland and Metro Vancouver, with regular service across the Fraser Valley, Sea-to-Sky Corridor, Okanagan, and Vancouver Island. For Northern BC and remote resource sector projects, contact us to discuss crew mobilization and logistics.
